V.M. Bondarenko Role of Opportunistic Pathogenic Bacteria in Chronic Inflammatory Processes of Various Localization. Tver, Triada, 2011, 88 p.

Introductory note by professor N.N. Kostyukova and professor A.I. Parfenov.
In the second edition of the monograph the information on the pathogenic role of opportunistic pathogenic microorganisms in development of chronic dysbiosis-associated inflammatory processes is systemized. The mechanisms responsible for disturbance of the mucosa barrier function with further translocation of bacteria and their toxic products from the intestinal lumen to the internal environment of the host, resulting in chronic inflammation, including immunopathology of the nervous tissue of intestine and the central nervous system or development of atherosclerosis, are described in detail.
The phenomenon of forming biofilms by the microbiota and the function of bacteria "quorum sensing" playing an important role in regulation of synthesis of a number of biologically active substances by microorganisms are analyzed.
The modern classification of probiotic drugs is given; the questions of the strategy and tactics of their therapeutic application are tackled.
The book is intended for general practitioners, gastroenterologists, infectious disease doctors, researchers, postgraduate students and students of medical higher educational establishments.
