The book sets forth some general problems of epidemiology, including the problem of bioterrorism and biosafety, epidemiological control, and epidemiological diagnostics. Contains characteristic of etiology, clinical representation, diagnostics, and prevention of anthroponoses. This group of infections remains quite relevant due to easiness of realization of the mechanisms and transmission paths of the agents, high contagiousness and wide spreading.

Among all the infections two main groups can be identified: those controlled by means of mass preventive vaccination (smallpox, diphtheria, measles, parotitis, etc.) and those not yet efficiently controlled (acute respiratory diseases, streptococcal and mycoplasmal infections, pneumocystosis, legionellosis, etc.).

The book is intended for epidemiologists, infectious disease doctors, microbiologists, virologists, immunologists, and specialists of the healthcare system and Rospotrebnadzor. The materials can be used in the training process of medical higher educational establishments and post-graduate training courses for doctors.
