I.V. Tarasevich. Astrakhan Spotted Fever. Moscow, Medicine, 2002, 176 p.

The book summarizes the results of 20-year studies of the new infection for the science – Astrakhan spotted fever, its etiology (using classic, molecular and biological and genetic methods), epidemiology, clinical performance, clinical and laboratory diagnostics, immunology, etiotropic treatment together with immune response modifiers as well as its prevention and ecology of its agent and carrier. The studies on etiology of this infection make it possible to characterize its agent as a new species of the rickettsia of the tick-borne spotted fever group.
The problems of the natural focus evolution are discussed in conjunction with the environmental factors and its transformation into zoonotic one, resulting from technogenic impact.

The book can be interesting for doctors and biologists, specialists in various disciplines of microbiology, epidemiology, and ecology of transmissive ricketsioses.
