The monograph based on summarizing vast literature and the authors' own studies, represents the up-to-date role of listerias in the human infectious pathology. The authors analyze the evolution of views of epidemiology, pathogenesis and clinical representation of listeriosis. The new classification of the main clinical forms of listeriosis and the up-to-date treatment schemes are suggested. Analysis of the agent biology and the mechanisms of intracellular parasitism of listerias at the cell and molecular level has been carried out, taking into consideration the new methodical approaches to assessment of pathogenicity factor expression.
