The monograph summarizes the modern understanding of the shigella pathogenicity factors and the molecular and biological basics of shigellosis pathogenesis and sets forth specifics of immunity and modern treatment of the specified pathology, laboratory diagnostics and treatment. A significant place in the monograph is devoted to the change in the normal intestine microflora in patients with shigellosis and the impact of the impaired microbiocenosis of the disease.
