The learning aid sets forth the current understanding of epidemiology as a science on mass human diseases. It reviews the problems of epidemiology establishment and development. Characteristic of the key statistical parameters used in epidemiological investigations is given. The epidemiological aspects of disease classification and categorization are described. Special attention is paid to determination of cause-and-effect relations and description of types of epidemiological investigations.
