Biological properties and taxonomy of pathogens of natural focal infections, including new and recurring ones. The origin of pathogens and their evolution. Heterogeneity of populations, their ecology in connection with the epizootic and epidemic manifestation of natural foci. Significance of modern molecular biological methods for the study of natural focal zoonoses.
 Genetic heterogeneity of hosts and its influence on the circulation of pathogens. Creation of a collection of cultures of the most important pathogens and molecular epidemiology of natural focal infections. Reservation mechanisms of pathogens. Development, improvement and standardization of MIBP for prevention, immunotherapy and diagnosis of infectious diseases. Creation of the system for assessing the quality of vaccines obtained by reproduction in  finite Vero cell line in terms of "foreign matter".
 Development of a new concentrated rabies vaccine using the finite Vero cell line. Improving methods for assessing the quality of vaccines for measles prevention. Study of the effectiveness of modern vaccines against strains of the Ural-Siberian genotype of tick-borne encephalitis virus. Improvement of the method for assessing the quality of tick-borne encephalitis vaccines by quantitative determination of specific viral antigen by the EIA method. Development and certification of methods for evaluating the first domestic vaccine against hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) "Combi-HFRS-vac". Improvement of the system for assessing the quality of the pertussis component of complex vaccines. Improvement of methods for standardization and evaluation of drugs for the prevention of hepatitis A. Development of panels of positive specific serums for standardization and quality assessment of allergens and diagnostic test systems. Development of a new comprehensive method for identifying infected persons and monitoring persons from risk groups for tuberculosis in a dispensary.
