In accordance with the provisions of Order No. 937 of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science dated September 2, 2015 "On the approval of the list of positions of scientific workers to be replaced by way of competition, and the procedure for holding the above-mentioned competition", from January 1, 2018 at FSBI National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after the honorary academician N. F. Gamaleya of the Russian Ministry of Health sets forth the procedure for filling vacancies of researchers on a competitive basis.   Regulations "On the procedure for holding a competition for filling positions of researchers" were approved and put into effect, and the composition of the competition committee was approved.
A competition is held whenever a research position becomes available and in cases where a researcher is transferred to another scientific position. Researchers who hold full-time scientific positions as of January 1, 2018 are not subject to reappointment to their positions.

In accordance with Order No. 417 of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation dated July 12, 2017, Federal State Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after the honorary academician N. F. Gamaleya of the Russian Ministry of Health was renamed into the Federal State Budgetary Institution National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after the honorary academician N. F. Gamaleya of the Russian Ministry of Health.  The brief name is: FSBI National Research Center named after the honorary academician N. F. Gamaleya of the Russian Ministry of Health.

In order to optimize methodological and practical assistance to health authorities and health care institutions of the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation, as well as to the chief freelance epidemiologists of the regions of the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation, by an Order dated December 29, 2016 under the chief freelance epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation, an organizational and executive committee for the provision of organizational, methodological and practical assistance from the staff of FSBI National Research Center named after the honorary academician N. F. Gamaleya of the Russian Ministry of Health was established.

On October 15, 2009, the website address of the National Research Center named after the honorary academician N. F. Gamaleya was changed.
